Avello's process

  1. Coordinate with the utility contractor on backfill spec
  2. Saw-cut a clean perimeter 6"–12" outside the trench edge
  3. Verify backfill compaction or use flowable fill
  4. Place hot-mix in compacted lifts to full depth
  5. Infrared the perimeter to fuse the patch into surrounding pavement
  6. Compact and finish flush to surrounding grade
  7. Written scope with quantities, materials, and a realistic budget range you can hand to ownership, a board, or a finance director
  8. Pre-construction notice package with dates, affected areas, and access maps so tenants, staff, or residents are never surprised
  9. Post-work walkthrough with photo documentation and a punch list closed out before final invoicing

What you get

  • Saw-cut perimeter with clean edges
  • Hot-mix or infrared restoration (no cold patch)
  • Infrared-fused perimeter — no cold joint
  • Quantities and locations documented
  • Workmanship warranty
  • Photo-documented before-and-after record for your maintenance and liability file
  • A prioritized follow-up plan showing what should be scheduled next season and roughly what it will cost

Warning signs you need this work

  • Trench patch settled below surrounding pavement
  • Cracks along the saw-cut edges
  • Water entering at the trench perimeter
  • Cold-patch repair already failing
  • Water standing on the pavement more than 24 hours after rain
  • Repairs made in the last two seasons that are already failing again

Ideal for

  • Water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecom contractors
  • Municipalities requiring proper trench restoration
  • Property owners after utility work
  • Sites with prior trench failures and settlement
  • Owners and managers who need a written, defensible scope rather than a one-line verbal number
  • Properties that must stay open and accessible while the work is completed

FAQ

Why does the patch keep settling?+

Almost always backfill compaction. Avello insists on flowable fill or properly tested compacted backfill before paving the surface.

Can you handle the whole restoration for our utility?+

Yes — Avello partners with utility contractors as the asphalt restoration sub on planned and emergency work.

Infrared the perimeter — why?+

Infrared fuses the new patch into the existing pavement so water can't enter the cold joint and pop the patch out.
